Drive-in/drive-thru pallet racking systems use many of the same components as selective pallet racking while incorporating some unique features to allow pallets to be more densely loaded. As the name suggests, drive-in rack allows fork truck operators to navigate into the depth of the system. The primary advantage of this design is the elimination of the space-demanding aisles typically afforded to fork truck movement. Conceivably, there is no limit to the depth of the tunnel.

The trade-off for increased density comes at the expense of stock rotation; the first pallet loaded into a drive-in pallet rack system will be the last one unloaded. For that reason, these racking systems are best suited for warehouses which store large volumes of low-variety SKUs.
